Error
Smart is now one of the most
reviewed registry cleaners on the market,
and you will find some big claims found
in these reviews, and also on the
company’s website. These claims include
the ability to improve a machine’s
performance by seventy percent, as well
as the claim that Error Smart makes use
of the most advanced technology
available. Big claims are of course often
made, and as always we feel that claims
are there to be put to the test.
Our
Overall Score – 80%
The Details of Error Smart
• Software Designer
– there is not a great deal of
information available about the designers
behind Error Smart and although it is not a
vital thing it does add some comfort about the
knowledge and expertise of the software
designers.
•
Compatibility
–Error Smart has been
designed so that it will work on Windows
98, ME, 2000, XP and Vista.
•
Features and Functions
– For a company that makes a lot
of claims about its products we were surprised
that the company had not taken the opportunity
to add more features, although at the same time
we were glad that they hadn’t just added
no-value adding features.
•
Back-up and
Undo – Error Smart has
ensured that they have included
the required safety feature
that sees a complete backup of
the registry made before any
changes are made to it.
• Registry
Defragmenter – To ensure a
quicker machine it is always a good
idea to compact the registry after
it has been repaired. This process
will ensure that the Windows
operating system will have less
space to look through for required
information. Error Smart has
introduced a one-click feature that
defrags and compresses the registry
quickly and easily. |
The Test Results
Having decided to test Error
Smart, we went and purchased our copy
of the registry cleaner from the company’s
website. We went for the full version, as
although there is a free version which can be
downloaded from the site, this tool will only
scan through the Windows registry and will not
repair any errors found. Once we had purchased
our full version though, it was a simple case
of downloading and running the software.
The scan was quick and appeared to be thorough
enough, and the results showed that a large
number of errors had been found, we were though
left with a feeling that not all areas of the
Windows registry had been fully scanned, and we
were sure that some minor errors had been
missed. Despite this though once all identified
errors had been repaired we found that our test
machine had returned to an operating speed near
to what it had been when we brought it
new.
Additional
Observations
Although Error Smart is not a
registry cleaner that is packed with features,
the ones that have been built into are
valuable. The defragmenter feature is
especially valuable when it comes to
compressing the registry ensuring that the
Windows operating system can look for required
data quickly and efficiently.
Overall Impressions
Our results have shown that Error
Smart is deserving of the praise that
it receives in the various reviews written
about it. The claims made about it, including a
seventy per cent speed up of an infected
machine, look like they can be backed up with
evidence. The scan and repair process did
definitely clean up our Windows registry, and
that is of course the basic principle of any
registry cleaner. Error Smart though is
slightly let down in that it misses some errors
that we knew existed on our test machine.
Feature wise it is though a step ahead of many
basic registry cleaners, and we were glad to
see that Error Smart is one product that has
included a defrag tool, helping to compress the
registry. We would say that Error Smart is one
of the better registry cleaners available,
although we would still rate the likes of
RegCure from ParetoLogic
higher.
