In
recent months Max Registry
Cleaner has been receiving a lot
of accolades, and the plaudits have seen
a large uptake in users for this registry
cleaner. Of course awards are easily
obtained and mean little unless they come
from reputable sources, as a result we
decided to see whether Max Registry
Cleaner really deserves the praise that
is receives.
Our
Overall Score – 80%
The Details of Max Registry Cleaner
• Software Designer
– Max Registry Cleaner is a piece of
software developed and released by Max Secure
Software, a company dealing with a number of
anti-virus software available for download.
Although the company only has a short history
they have been well received in the computer
industry. •
Compatibility
–Max
Registry Cleaner has been designed so
that it will work on Windows 98, ME, 2000
and Vista. • Features
and Functions – Features
are often an important part in making the
difference between what is a good piece
of software and an excellent registry
cleaner program. Although most cleaners
do come with features, it is important to
know whether they actually add any value
or are just a secondary design
thought.
•
Back-up and Undo
– Max Registry
Cleaner comes complete with
essential backup and restore
feature, this is the minimum
safety requirement, as it
ensures that there is a copy of
the Windows registry created
before any changes are made to
it. Thus it can be restored in
the event of any problems.
•
Registry Defragmenter
– Once a registry is
repair, it is vital that it is
defragged and compacted to ensure
that only the minimum space is
used. Once compacted, you will find
that it takes less time for the
Windows operating system to look
for information required to make a
computer work as it should do.
•
Scheduler
– Max Registry Cleaner
comes complete with a scheduler
that enables a user to get scans
undertaken automatically without
having to remember to run the
program. Timescales can be altered
depending on how much use a machine
is put
through. |
The Test
Results
Having decided to test Max Registry
Cleaner we went and purchased our copy
of the registry cleaner direct from the Max
Registry Cleaner website. Ours was the full
version rather than the free version, a version
which allows for a free scan of the Windows
registry without offering a repair process. The
full version though identifies and repairs, and
it was quickly installed on our test
computer.
It was simple to use the
interface provided and we soon had Max Registry
Cleaner looking for errors in our Windows
registry. Although not the quickest scan,
the process did appear thorough enough, and we
saw that all major errors had been found during
the scan. As a result our computer was
certainly much faster than it had been prior to
the repair process, and although not perfect
was a marked improvement on what it had
been.
Additional Observations
Once again we were impressed that
the designers of Max Registry Cleaner had
decided to include a registry defrag tool. We
feel that it is something that an excellent
registry cleaner should include, as it is a
tool that helps to compress the registry,
making it easier for the Windows operating
system to search out required information. The
scheduler is also a useful tool, although we
would say that most users would probably
remember to run the cleaner at the required
fortnightly rate.
Overall Impressions
Max Registry Cleaner receives a mixed review
from ourselves, and we would say that it whilst
it is a good registry cleaner, it is not the
most thorough of cleaners available to buy,
unlike RegCure from ParetoLogic. At the same
time though Max Registry Cleaner does rate
higher than many basic registry cleaners in the
fact that there are additional features
designed to help with processing speed, as the
Windows operating system looks through the
registry.
