relative newcomer to the registry cleaner
marketplace, XP Repair
Pro has quickly accumulated
almost three million users in the last
three years. It is an impressive figure
and shows that there is a great deal of
confidence amongst users when it comes to
installing it on their machines. As a
recent piece of software the XP Repair
Pro is also one of the most up-to-date
and designed to deal with the latest
Windows registries and their associated
problems.

The Details of XP Repair Pro

Software Designer – XP Repair Pro
is a stand alone product, so there is little
information about the other products available
from the software developers.

Compatibility
–
XP Repair Pro has been developed
to work specifically on Windows XP and
Vista, and will work on previous versions
of Windows as well.
•
Features and Functions – although
there are good registry cleaners available
which offer no additional features, other than
registry repair, it is normal for top rated
cleaners to have additional features that help
with the running of a computer and its
registry.

Registry
Defragmenter – A
defragmenter is an ideal
feature to ensure that the
registry is as compact as it
can be. This feature ensures
that the Windows operating
system can search for the
relevant data through the
smallest amount of information.
In our opinion it is something
that every registry cleaner
should have.

Hard Disk Cleanup
– A useful feature in
itself the hard disk cleanup allows
unused and unneeded files to be
removed, freeing up valuable space.
In itself though it is available
from other sources and is not
directly linked to improving the
Windows registry.

Startup
Program Manager – Again a
use3ful feature, although again it
is not something directly linked to
registry issues. The XP Repair Pro
program manager allows programs to
be disabled from the Windows
startup procedure ensuring a faster
running
machine. |
The Test Results
We
downloaded our own version of XP Repair
Pro direct from the company’s website,
paying for the full version, rather than just
the free diagnostic tool. Purchasing and
downloading were straightforward activities,
and we soon had the software installed on our
test computer and ready to run. It was also
very simple to get the software to scan through
our own Windows registry looking for issues
affecting the performance of the whole
computer. The scan was reasonably fast, and
brought back a long list of errors found. At
first glance the results were impressive,
although we quickly noticed that several minor
issues, known to exist within the registry had
been missed.
Despite the omissions though, we completed the
repair process, again a simple process
involving a single click of the mouse. We then
restarted our machine to find out the impact
that running XP Repair Pro had had. The start
up of our computer was quicker than it
previously had been, and after a few minutes
usage of the machine we were pleased to see
that the processing speed was also much better,
with a complete lack of error messages.
Additional Observations
The features included in XP Repair
Pro are a mixture of good tools and relatively
pointless ones. On the positive side is the
fact that there is a defrag tool included. This
means that as well as repairing the registry it
also helps in compressing the registry
improving the processing speed of Windows. The
other features including program managers add
little value as can be found from other
sources, including the Windows operating system
itself.
Overall Impressions
We were impressed with the results of XP Repair
Pro and although not the most thorough of
registry cleaners, the speed of the scan and
the repair were good when compared to most
registry cleaners. We also gave XP Repair Pro
additional points as it is one of the few
registry cleaners that has thought of the need
to include a defrag tool. XP Repair Pro would
not be our top recommendation, an accolade
given to RegCure from ParetoLogic, but we would
say that for many people looking for a basic
registry cleaner it is an adequate
purchase.

Consumer Feedbacks :
Today I
purchased a copy of this software and my dialup
connection dropped before I was able to receive
my registration key. I immediately emailed
support because I saw the charge had gone
through on my card. Within 30 minutes I
received a response with a copy of my
registration key. It didn't work, but that was
because I was trying to install the 2007
version and I just had to upgrade to this
newest version.
Thanks to Daniel at
their support for his quick response in getting my
problem fixed.

I thought by
the name that it might be only for XP but I
tried it on Vista and it worked flawlessly.
Surprised it finds so many errors on Vista, but
I guess it is still Windows after all. Believe
it or not, Circuit City's Firedog support
actually recommended this program for me. Saved
me 150$ over their "optimizing"
service.

3.5.6 is really great and charming software for
all users who interested in System Utilities. I
